Sourav Chandidas Ganguly was born on July 8,1972.His father's name is Chandi Das Ganguly.His wife's name is Dona Ganguly.Ganguly was not not encouraged to play cricket because his parents wanted him to concentrate on studies.But Ganguly followed his brother Snehasish and started playing cricket.Ganguly is a quiet person.He is left-handed batsman and he is also a bowler.He is a right-arm medium-pace bowler.He scored three runs in the year 1992,in an ODI match against West Indies.
In the year 2000,in the month of February,he was appointed as the Captain of our Indian Cricket team.In Sahara cup,1997,he won 5 consecutive man of the man of the match award and he was also the man of the series.He was the highest scorer for ODIs in India,in the year 1997.He won Arjuna award in the year 1998.
